“Global warming is a myth,” he wrote in 2000. “There, I said it,” he added as if he was some great truth-teller, instead a liar misleading people about science. He was less bold about his anti-science views when pressed by Jake Tapper of CNN in 2019, but still dodged the question of whether he accepts the reality of climate change.
Pence was part of a multi-decade effort by Republican leaders and pundits to train their base to believe that lying is not only okay but totally justified if it’s done in service of the party’s political goals. He would have denied the existence of gravity if he thought it would help a corporation evade regulation or promote the Christian right’s agenda.
It would be one thing if Pence had renounced his lying ways and was reckoning with how his own disinformation laid the groundwork for the Big Lie. But either he’s too stupid or cynical — likely, a bit of both.
On June 23, The New York Times broke the story of the EU’s likely ban due to Coronavirus. Three days later, Vice President Mike Pence held the first White House Coronavirus Task Force press briefing in almost two months. Throughout the session, Pence made wildly false claims about the administration’s supposed success in dealing with COVID-19.
Pence: “We have made truly remarkable progress in moving our nation forward.”
Fact: The US is far behind the rest of the world in COVID-19 mortality rates. With only about 4% of the world’s population, America accounts for more than 25% of worldwide COVID-19 infections and deaths.
Pence: “All 50 states and territories across this country are opening up safely and responsibly.”
Fact: At the time, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, and Texas had already paused or reversed reopening plans. Within days, the number of states pausing or rolling back plans had risen to 17.
Pence: “We slowed the spread. We flattened the curve. We saved lives.”
Fact: The COVID-19 infection curve is shooting upward.
Pence, He’s trampled on the rights of women, LGBTQ folks and the poor. Then there’s the incompetence.

Now he claims he has notes and detailed recollection of Jan 6th, but he lies again and it will backfire on him. In fact there are whistleblowers who dare his threat to kill Julian Assange, to expose this lying ex-vice president.
