Protests against the Italian government’s coronavirus policy have led to serious riots in Rome. Thousands demonstrators marched through the streets of the capital on Saturday and repeatedly clashed with the police. Violent clashes broke out and the police used batons, pepper spray and water cannons. The demonstrators tried to break through barricades, throwing chairs and firecrackers, as could be seen in videos. Four people were initially arrested amid the violence, news agency ANSA reported.
