Merkel meets Israeli prime minister before busy day of talks

German Chancellor Angela Merkel met Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett for talks on Sunday, a spokesperson said, as she embarks on her final official trip to the country. After meeting with Bennett, the chancellor plans to hold discussions with President Isaac Herzog and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid for the first time since the government and president took office in June and July. Merkel will also meet with the Israeli Cabinet.
